OK so first off, I have to say: I can’t yet tell you what this shoot was for or show you any of the pics… SORRY!!! You guys will just have to be patient – it’s gonna take a couple of weeks still… but it will be worth the wait, trust me.
I can however give you a behind the scenes look at what went down… Day 1 was a studio shoot. Our photographer extraordinaire was Joseph Ou:

Ready for the seriously tough task at hand... hot girls, tons of lingerie, so little time! Someone's gotta do it...
Our make up artist was the lovely Claire Hills (Claire also did my make up for my 30th last year) and Natalie (our very own Saturday Girl SA – blogger/stylist/and lover of all things fabulous) helped out with hair and general organising.

Working hard at making us look picture perfect (not that we weren't perfect to start with of course!
)
We were 4 models in total. There was the blonde bombshell, the fiesty Brazillian, the saucy brunette and me! (the slightly crazy “don’t give that chick sugar or booze” one). Come on, what shoot is complete without one of those!? haha But seriously, I am definitely no model. In fact, I think I’ve mentioned this before, I actually really hate having my picture taken. I get very self conscious and I always zone in on all the flaws I feel are on the photo, instead of seeing the good parts. I guess it’s true what they say, you are your own worst critic… But the pitch for this shoot just sounded like so much fun, so I couldn’t resist. At least I’ll have something to show people when I’m old & wrinkly one day…
Our shoot director & overall fashion expert, Kristine, was super organised – just look at some of the “look plans” that covered the walls:
And here’s some of the wardrobe changes – that studio was dripping in hot, sexy lingerie:
THEN, every shoot needs some really great props. We were lucky enough to have these really fun balloons! Don’t they just make you smile instantly!?
And then I think they brought these letters to check if models can spell. haha!
After our make up and hair was done, we were rubbed down with a mix of body lotion and MAC body shimmer powder to give our skins that amazing glow you always see in swimsuit & lingerie shots in magazines. I was totally addicted to it, I want to shimmer every day now! Then we got down to business. I must say once we got going, we motored through those looks like machines. Everybody seemed to get right into character quite easily. I think the fun music playing in the studio (thanks to Kristine’s mom) really helped.
Here’s Joe & Kristine hard at work – we all dreaded that damn fan – it was bloody cold man!!!
OK, so this is not the most flattering shot of my ass – but I figured you would have a good laugh as it gives you some insight into the “oh so faaaabulous life” of a schmodel… This is me getting my ass coloured in because I have some tan lines that were causing issues:
We had a long day of shooting and wrapped at around 6pm. I was absolutely amazed at how pooped I was, this stuff really takes it out of you! On Sat eve I only managed to pop in at a friend’s place briefly before going back home and passing out on the couch at like 8pm. Getting old now hey…
For Day 2 we headed out to the beautiful Simons Town to shoot in and around this stunning hill top cottage. Actually, I realised that I haven’t been to Simons Town in like yonks. I really must make a mission back there again soon to wander through the unique shops and quirky cafes. It is really a gorgeous little place.
Back to our fantastic location, just check out the view:
The interior of this house just screamed “Elle Decor Cover”! Every detail was well planned out and picture perfect. Especially loved the wooden beams in the ceiling.
My favourite spot was the open balcony – it was calling my name… I just wanted to chill there all day with a big cup of coffee and some fashion mags.
Just being there made me feel like I was on holiday. It’s just so vastly different to my city slicker apartment. Don’t get me wrong, I love living in the heart of Cape Town, but there’s something so serene about this place – would be great to have a spot here to escape life every now and again.
Day 2 of the shoot brought more sexy wardrobe changes:
We got through another 12 or so looks yesterday. And also managed to cause a bit of a stir with the neighbours. haha. I think we’re going to be the talk of the town for a while…
We wrapped at around 6pm again – and yet again, I was super pooped. Spent another evening on the couch last night. But it was absolute bliss.
Just want to say a HUGE thank you to everyone involved in this shoot. I had such a great time and I just know the final product is going to be amazing. I can’t wait to see it!!!
xxx
PS: I did a follow up post to this one with the outcome from this shoot. Check it out here:

when we gonna see what the photo shoot was for?
Soon actually! I’ve seen some of them already. Really excited about the outcome. Should be able to have them up by next Monday latest.
Thanks, Leigh
Oooh, can’t wait to see it! And I love that pic of Joe behind the lens. All his hard works paying off and he’s finally living the dream.
Mwah!
