Last Fri eve I quickly popped into Canal Walk for the grand opening of new swimwear & underwear store, 69 Slam. To find it yourself, it’s upstairs, just past the food court, across the way from the Billabong store.
I got there way after 7pm, but the party actually started at 5. Even so, when I arrived the place was still buzzing:

That I would say is a sign of a very successful launch. Some of these things tend to be a bit blah and then people don’t stay too long. But that certainly wasn’t the case here. Maybe it had something to do with all the half naked boys everywhere? Hmmmm…

Screw service with a smile… we demand service with a six pack people!
Not only were these lovely boys there to give you a warm welcome, they were also manning the bar, ensuring everyone was refreshed and smiling:

I just love a good hard working, half naked boy… bless.
Anyhoo… before I totally lose track and forget to mention why I was actually there… let’s move on from the boys.
So 69 Slam is a label which specialises in swimwear & underwear that’s 100% playful. Bright colours and crazy prints are kinda their thing. So if you’re more of a beige girl or a grey boy, this might be a bit loud for you. But then again, I say live a little for goodness sake!
They already have a base in Johannesburg, but this is the first store to open in Cape Town. While chatting to the owners, they noted that if this one does well, they will definitely be looking at opening a second one here as well.
From their swimwear options, I really liked these two guy & girl options:
And from their undies, I was rather taken with these:

I’m a huge “boy panties” fan. Have a stack at home you won’t believe.
Now apparently being kitted out in 69 Slam gear will make you feel like this:

I see… I see… Seems pretty damn good to me!
Looking around the store I also found my new “bumspiration”. This model’s bum is such perfection, I almost wanted to lunge all the way back to my car.

I feel long hours in the gym in my near future…
Bjorn had totally embraced the “sporty chic” dress code and I think he was hoping that he would be the brightest person there. But he certainly met his match when he bumped into Xavier who clearly had the exact same goal:

Hmmm… it’s a tough one… And no, I did not catch them off guard. This is actually how they chose to pose. hehe. Strange boys.
A huge thanks to Emma King (aka @toothfairysa) for the invite. It’s was fabulous launch daaahling. I’m sure 69 Slam is going to be quite popular here in the Mother City.

Me with Emma… and our goodie bags!
The goodie bag contained some really interesting things, like Dr Rey’s “Body by Rey” book, some yummy body products, a spray tan voucher from Just Skin and voucher for a free aesthetic consultation & chemical peel. Been really keen on trying a chemical peel for ages now, so that was a really cool surprise… Maybe once all my work stress calms down, I can wipe away the stress lines with that baby.
