Last Sun my friend Darryn and I checked out a new edition to the buzzing Cape Town market scene, the Sunday Market at Zula Sound Bar in Long St.
It was only their first day, so it was still quite small, but it had a pretty cool feel. I would describe the mix of things as quite alternative or eclectic, they had the kind of things you would normally see at a big music festival, so it was definitely different to the City Bowl Market in Hope St or the Neighbourgoods Market in Woodstock for example.
But they had the most important things covered though: food, cool background tunes and seating area to chill and have a cold one. I’m excited to see how it develops…

Some of the things I loved were these cute handcrafted umbrellas from Afro Sol made with some seriously fun fabrics:
And then these upside down herb pots from Cangro which I think would be so cool hanging in your kitchen. Very Jamie Oliver.
Fresh flowers is of course always a must:
And then check out this awesome evil bunny from The Love Craft Experiment -
This little guy had me thinking about primary school and how I used to be teased about looking like Wednesday Addams. Yup, this little girl here:

I can’t really deny the resemblance. haha. But if only I had an evil bunny at the time to really mess with the other kids… that would have been pure awesome ![]()
So if you’re into something a little off beat, this market will be right up your alley. It’s open every Sun from 10am to 4pm, so that means if you have no plans yet, you can even go check it out today!
