The beautiful Tashas

Now I’ve mentioned this before… I’m a bit of a town snob.  I have a strong belief that all the cool things in Cape Town can only possibly be close to my hood.  The term “suburbs” just doesn’t really appeal to me and therefore you very rarely find me hanging around in the Northerns or Southerns…  Maybe it’s also because I prefer being as close to the mountain as possible.  That thing does have a pretty strong suck-you-in force you know.

BUT every so often, something comes along to totally klap me right of my little high horse. ;)   This time it came in the form of the absolutely stunning Tashas in Constantia.

I was actually in the area for a wine festival (that’s one thing that the burbs people do have – wine, glorious wine!) but then Bjorn, a massive Tashas fan, said there was just no way we could miss out on this prime opportunity to pop into Tashas for a quick bite.  My friend Darryn, who was also along for the ride, immediately started glowing just at the mention of the place.  So I figured ja ja OK, let’s see what all this fuss is about.

And boy am I glad these guys convinced me to check it out…  this place totally blew my hair back!  Firstly it is picture perfect:

Boom!

Secondly, their evil cake & sweet treat island almost made me break out in a big badass happy dance:

I’ll have this one and that one and those ones and… * sugar coma *

And thirdly, their menu is HUGE.  They’ve got you covered on anything and everything your tummy could ever possibly desire.  If you don’t find at least 10 things you just can’t choose between, there’s something seriously wrong with you. :)

Darryn went for the French onion soup:

Don’t those cheese covered crostinis look sooooo damn good…

And Bjorn and I shared the beef burger (R65).  But the really cool thing is that you actually get 2 “mini” burgers instead of one big one, so that made it perfect for sharing:

Check it, we each got this… and all that for only R65. 100% Yum.

Tasha’s gets a solid http://myloveaffairwithcapetown.files.wordpress.com/2011/11/kiss4.jpg?w=584 on the Miss K Kiss-o-Meter scale and I can’t wait to make a return visit.  Who knows, maybe I’ll become a Southern Suburbs regular now…  OK maybe not just yet.  But I’ve realised I should definitely broaden my exploration horizons.
