Cape Town street art

Last Sun, Bjorn and I decided to take to the streets to see what street art we could find.  I’ve been wanting to do so since I saw that London Street Art exhibition a few weeks ago.  I guess it inspired me to go searching for the Mother City’s very own beautiful pieces.

The journey mostly focused around the Woodstock area as I’d received a tip off that there was a lot of cool stuff to be seen there.  The first and probably most famous being the angels done by local street artist Faith 47 en route to Biscuit Mill on Albert Road:

In that same area we also found these “tag” style pieces:

Further along we turned up into William St and found these insane 3D wire animals which were done by international artist DALeast who just as an interesting side fact was born in China and actually studied sculpture at the Institute of Fine Arts:

We walked around that area and found quite a lot of good stuff actually.  Check these out too:

We even found this Banksy style one en route back into the city on Albert Rd:

Two others not in Woodstock, but totally worth a mention is this one on your right as you’re heading up De Villiers St from the N1 heading towards Roeland St / Wembley Square area:

And then lastly this really fun one right at the top of Harrington St, around the corner from mine:

I have to say I had lots of fun exploring the streets and finding these incredible surprises.  I am totally inspired to do a few more outings.  Know of any other hidden city gems?  Leave a comment below and I’ll go check it out…
