OK, I’m trying something new. A blog series I’m hoping to call “Hipster Spotting”. I’ve been intrigued by the Cape Town hipster phenomenon for quite some time now and I think it’s time I do a bit a homage to this very popular trend.
If you’re still confused as to what a hipster is, this post I did last year will explain things.
So the idea is that this will be a collaborative thing. I will post pics of hipsters seen out & about and I will try to explain their look. (even better would be if we can get them to explain their looks, but let’s see how this develops) Then this is where you come in. If you’ve seen an outstanding hipster look, or you know a hipster, or you even are a hipster, email me some pics at karisanic@gmail.com and I’ll put it up.
I’m gonna kick things off with a look I spotted at the Short & Sweet film fest. I’m calling the look “Maya the bee deconstructed”. Why? Well as you’ll see, this guy is clearly channeling the bee vibe, but not in an obvious way with stripes, instead he’s opted for some polka dots instead:

I’m not even sure where one would buy something like that, it must be custom made. Most likely by an aunt or gran… That’s like totally hipster…
OK, so you get the idea? We’re just gonna have a bit of fun with it and all identities will be kept hidden, unless the hipster in question is happy for it to be otherwise…
So keep those eyes peeled folks.
