Cape Town Creative Week is here folks

I’ll be honest, I heard about Creative Week in passing here and there over the past few weeks, but I didn’t really pay too much attention to it as I just had quite a bit on my plate and didn’t get around to sitting down to try and find out exactly what it was all about…

Luckily last night I joined Bjorn (him being part of the acting world & all) at a little Creative Week kick off party hosted by Sound & Motion Studios along with Bench Films, which both reside in Harrington St.  Now I’m sooo excited about this whole thing and just felt that I needed to spread the word in case you, like me, didn’t really know what was going down.

So Creative Week is something that actually started back in September of 2010 when Cape Town put in a bid to become the 2014 Word Design Capital.  As you should know, we won!  And Creative Week then became an annual event from there on.  During the week of 15 – 23 Sep, events are hosted all over Cape Town.  You can expect a celebration of anything from film, architecture, photography, art, music, design, literature and advertising (yup, including the Loeries awards).  You can check out the full schedule on the Creative Week website and I’m urging you to go check it out and get involved people.  I guarantee you there will at least be one thing on there you’d really want to check out.

At last night’s little soiree, Sound & Motion and Bench Films told us about their exciting events happening during this week after which one of my favourite local bands, iScream & the Chocolate Stix, took to stage to get us into the Creative Week spirit. :)

The guys doing their thing like only they can. They seriously have some of the best stage energy around. Infectious to say the least.

There’s a few things on the schedule that’s already caught my eye.  So I’m really going to try get to them.  Will I see you there?
