It’s almost time to rock it in the daisies

This year’s Rocking the Daisies festival is almost here!  I’m very excited because this has become an annual event not to be missed.  This year they’ve changed things up a bit by opening the camp site on the Thu instead of the normal Fri kick off and therefore the stage schedules have also been changed to start earlier on the Fri and and end earlier on the Sun. BUT you can still expect the same craziness & variety as usual, ensuring that there’s something for everyone.

Think 6 stages, over 100 acts, a good selection of bars, yummy festival food (read: killer boerie rolls!!!) and fancy toilets & The Daisy Den for those ladies who still need a bit of luxury. ;)

If things get too hot, you can go cool off in the dam and chill at the Beach Bar which has it’s own lineup of DJs.  Or take a break from the madness and have a laugh at the Lemon Tree Theatre where some great stand-up comedy will be on show.  The big international headlining act on the Main Stage this year is British Indie rock band, Bloc Party.  You’ll probably know their hit Octopus as it’s gotten quite a lot of airtime on 5FM.  Then as always there’s also a whole host of top SA bands for you to get your live music fix.

If you wanna get your dance on (or maybe even whip out that glow stick from 1998 – anything goes at Rocking the Daisies – we don’t judge), you can move on over to the Electro Stage or the Nu World Beat Barn where stuff will be going down until the early hours of the morning.

You can check out my recap of last year’s festival over here.  Although I did have to check out early thanks to a lame ass allergy attack.  This year I’m going to be amped up on so many allergy meds, you’ll be able to punch in the face and I won’t even feel it. :)   Last year I also dropped my carema into a Pina Colada – like you do – so I’ve already been looking at new camera features, replacement options and such, just in case.

To join in on the fun, just hop onto Webtickets over here.  R520 for a full weekend pass, R480 if you just want to stay over the Saturday eve.  R70 for the Sunday only.

And if camping out for a few days is not your thing.  Make it your thing!  I used to be terrified of the idea, but now it doesn’t phase me in the least.  Some tips to make things more bareable though:  1. Bring lots of baby wipes.  2.  Drink a lot so you forget. hehe.
