So this week I got a little parcel delivered to my office. It was an Inglot Hawaiian Summer make up kit which I won through a fashion blog by the name of Open Wardrobe.
Now I will admit, the day I entered this competition I was in one of those “let me just enter a whole bunch of things” mood. So I didn’t pay too much attention to the actual details of the prize. All I really zoned in on was that it was Inglot, a make up brand which I really love. They really do have the most impressive colour selection I have ever seen and their build-you-own palettes are just plain amazing.
So anyways. I happened to be having a bit of a lucky streak, something which is very unusual for me, because in one week I won a pair of Errol Arendz shoes as well as this Inglot kit. Pretty sweet I thought. However, when this parcel arrived, I just had to laugh…
Turns out the Hawaiian Summer colour range is very much orange based. Now normally I have nothing against this colour, but some recent events have put me off it just a tad. Let me explain. The company I work for was sold to new owners and with new owners came a new company name as well as new corporate branding & colours. The new corporate colour turned out to be orange and to celebrate this new “colour revolution” they did what most corporates like doing, they bombarded us with it. On day one we got orange everyhing: an orange pen, an orange folder, an orange notebook, an orange screen saver, an orange desktop wallpaper and even an orange cupcake. This meant that my little Inglot parcel now matched in perfectly:
My main problem with the orange though is that it totally clashes with the my lime green cubicle and I feel like it messes with my cubicle feng shui.
It’s all just too damn bright:
Anyhoo, my Inglot kit contained an eyeshadow & blush pallet, a hot pink gloss, make up bag & orange nail varnish. I figure if I rock this look at work I will probably get major brownie points from senior management. Hehe.

They’ll be all like “Wow, Karisa’s really embracing the orange love. Give that girl a bonus!” (Or that’s at least how I’m picturing it)
The hot pink gloss at least breaks it up a little and I’ve actually already used it, it’s quite cool. As for the rest, it’s going to take some carefull practice to pull it off I think. But hey, I’m up for the challenge.
