This year’s Pinotage on Tap festival on the lovely Diemersfontein Wine Estate (as usual) did not disappoint.
Some people might have thought that the R320 ticket price sounded a bit steep, but when you look at everything you get for it, you realise that you’re actually getting a pretty damn good deal…
First off, you get to spend a long, lazy day in the winelands, soaking up some sun and taking in lots of fresh air:
Then upon arrival you’re kitted out with an awesome goodie bag containing: a wine glass, a bottle of water, some snacks to line that stomach, food tickets for later on in the day and a schedule of events. So basically all the stuff you need to survive the day.
A BIIIG part of you day then simply involves this:

Yup, they weren’t kidding about the “on tap” part. These barrels were stationed all over the festival area and you literally just put your glass out for a refill whenever you felt like it. No limits, no questions asked. #bliss
Important to note: If you don’t like pinotage, there’s also some white wine you can opt for. But there’s a smaller supply of that.
Other things to do include watching some live acts, like this year they had Dave Fergusson aka Lonesome Dave and Gerald Clark & band to name a few. Or you can ride the mechanical bul, take drunken piccies on the poor hippo statue (if you manage to dodge the security guard) and eat, eat & eat some more!
Then at 3pm they opened the chocolate fountain area – the highlight of my day for sure:
To work off all that energy, everyone headed back to the main area to watch one of my favourite live SA bands, Good Luck:
Who had eveyone on their feet…
Now it’s always easy to spot a “POT virgin” – they are usually the people wearing white. Wearing white to POT is probably the worst idea ever… Why? Well I’ll just let the evidence do the talking:
It’s dark colours all the way baby. That’s how the pros do it.
A huge thanks to the ladies & gents at Diemersfontein for another awesome festival. And a big cheers to next year!

PS. No drinking & driving at POT. They have busses that run from CT and back. Or you have some options to stay the night. So its super easy.
