Chocomania

OK, so I got a little treat from the Body shop in my mailbox the other day… a sample of their new Chocomania body butter.  Sweet.

Now the first thing that came to mind was:  If I smear this onto my skin and I happen to sit still for too long, will I be covered in ants? ;)

My next thought was: Will this make me more attractive to cannibals / serial killers?  I’ve got this weird thing where everytime I’m applying body lotion of some sorts I think back to that scene from Silence of the Lambs where that evil dude is making a suit for himself out of his victims’ skin and he’s got this chick trapped in this hole… He drops down a little basket with lotion in it and demands she puts it on her skin (you know – to make her skin all nice and soft and all).  Then when she’s done he creepily says “put the lotion back in the basket” and he lifts it back up.   Yep – I’m pretty messed up. Hahahahaha.  But it’s something that just stuck with me through all these years…  Brilliant movie though.

As much as I LOVE chocolate and would stop at nothing to get my hands on the stuff, I’ve never really been keen on any of those chocolate facials and body treatments that became all the rage.  I want to eat it, not smell like it.  But I figured I should at least give it a bash because I’m a huge Body Shop fan.

Sniffing into the packet, I could definitely pick up the chocolate scent.   But once applied to my skin it turned more into a coconut smell.  I handed it to the ladies at my office as well to see what they thought.  The general concencus was that is was definitely more of a coconut smell.  One lady even said “it reminds you of sitting on the breach with a Pina Colada”.   So if that sounds like a heavenly scent to you, you’re likely going to go bananas over this new variant.

I personally don’t really like the smell of coconut, so I’m gonna be sticking to my trusty Satsuma Body Butter.  We’re like gonna be best friends for life!

Oh and a last note… you just know I tasted it as well right… haha  (I think my little story above has proven that I’m pretty weird)… my advice DO NOT DO IT.  It doesn’t taste like choccie, as much as you might hope it will. :)

Body Shop celebrates their 10th anniversary

The Body Shop is celebrating 10 years in SA.  And as part of their celebrations, they are offer some killer deals & discounts and even free makeovers!

Some items in store have been discounted by R10 – that’s R1 per year. ;)    And then if you buy goodies to the value of R250 or more, you get a 200ml Body Butter valued at R120 for FREE!

I’m a huge fan of their body butter.  I started using it about 8 years back and haven’t used any other body moisturiser since.  My favourite flavour?  Satsuma of course – a fresh citrus punch right in your face.  I regularly get compliments about how great I smell, and I love it.  I’ve flirted with some of the other flavours, like Strawberry and Cherry Blossom, but I always go back to my darling Satsuma.

I figured this deal would be a nice way to stock up on some essentials.  I opted for a Satsuma body butter @ R120 (yes yes, I know I also get one for free, but a girl can never have enough!), a matching Satsuma Body Polish @ R90 and a Earth Lovers Apricot & Basil body wash @ R75:

My loot... total cost = R285

And then… Yay!  I got this baby for FREE:

Also, if you pop into a store right now, you might still find some of their great sale bargains.  At the Canal Walk branch they still had 750ml body washes going for only R90 (normal price: R240!).  That’s pretty sweet…

I enquired about the free makeovers and this is how you go about it:

  • You have to be a Love Your Body card holder.  But don’t stress if you’re not, you can register for one for free in store – easy peasy.  And the best part is that with it you’ll earn points with each purchase and get cash back vouchers in return!
  • You need to make a booking at least 24 hrs in advance.
  • Select a day or night look and Bob’s your uncle!

So there you go, get your butts into a Body Shop right away.  And boys, they have a yummy men’s range as well.  So do yourself a favour and go check it out.  Girls love boys who smell good and look after themselves.  True story. ;)

Earth lovers unite!

I’ve always been a MASSIVE fan of the Body Shop.  I lather myself up with their yummy body butter every single day of my life!  My favourite is the Satsuma variant – it’s like a fresh citrus punch in the face. ;)

Anyhoo, I’ve recently become addicted to their Earth Lovers range of shower gels (R65 for 250ml bottle).

Great multi-tasker: loving the earth & your body at the same time!

So what makes them so special?  Well firstly the amazing fragrance options:  Apricot & Basil (my personal favourite), Lemon & Thyme, Pear & Lemongrass, Cucumber & Mint, Fig & Rosemary, Watermelon & Eucalyptus and even an unscented one for sensitive skins.

Then they are also super earth friendly.  The gel itself is 100% biodegradable – perfect for the upcoming Rocking the Daisies & Synergy music festivals.  There’s always that point in any 3 day music festival where the shower facilities become so dodgy that you would rather resort to a dip in the nearby stream or dam.  But washing yourself with harsh soaps is not very nice to the environment.  No worries with these babies!  Problem solved…  Hopefully we’ll see more yummy smelling festival goers this year.  Fingers crossed. :)

It also contains no sulphates, no parabens, no colourants and is totally soap free!  Then as if all of that is not enough, there’s an added earth loving bonus – the bottle is made out of 100% recycled plastic!  Pretty damn sweet.

Go get yourselves a bottle, or two or three…
