Honestly good for ya choccie

As part of my birthday prezzie loot, my friend Ben had given me 3 slabs of Honest chocolate.  You see Ben is a smart man, cause he knows I’m a total chocoholic and this would totally feed my undying craving as well as my soul. :)

First I have to show you guys the beautiful wrapping:

From left to right you have the:

  • 72% dark + Kalahari desert salt
  • 72 %dark + Sweet orange
  • 72% dark + Peruvian Maca root

So what makes Honest chocolate special?  Well it’s the brain child of two chocolate-makers, Anthony & Michael who are passionate about making “good for ya” treats.  Their chocolate is hand crafted using raw, organic cacao which is ethically sourced from Equador.  The chocolate is then tempered by hand on a granite slab and each bar is individually wrapped in eco friendly paper.  Raw cacao is unroasted which means it contains more antioxidants & nutrients and therefore is way better for you than normal dark chocolate.  Sweet!

Now dark chocolate is something I hated the first time I tried it… much like sushi & red wine (both of which are now on my list of favourite things)… but over time I started to really appreciate it as a little decadent treat.  From the 3 bars I got, the Kalahari desert salt one was my favourite.  I love the sweet vs slightly salty taste combination.

I see that they have a gorgeous little chocolate shop at 66 Wale St in town. I’m dying to go check it out now.  They make bonbons and chocolate spread as well.  Gonna have to give everything a try… you know, for proper “market research”.  Luckily it’s all really good for me, so there will be absolutely no guilt, right? ;)
